Why don't all books have every level?

A level only shows up on a book once it's been translated at that level, which happens automatically as you read or switch.

Overview

A reading level only exists for a book once that level has actually been translated. If a level is missing, it just hasn't been created yet, not because the book doesn't support it.

Lexxio Originals

Lexxio's own short fiction ships pre-translated at every level it offers, so this generally isn't something you'll run into with Originals. That said, even Originals don't always offer all five levels. Faithful only gets added when a title's prose is dense enough to sit meaningfully above Advanced. A plainly written short story might not need it.

Books you import yourself

EPUBs you bring into Lexxio work differently. They're translated on demand, chapter by chapter, at whatever level you're actually reading. If you've only ever read a book at Natural, it won't have a Guided version sitting around until you switch to Guided and let Lexxio translate it.

Translating a book requires a Lexxio plan. If you switch a book to a level it hasn't been translated at yet, Lexxio translates it in the moment, usually a few seconds per chapter, and uses AI credits to do it. See How AI credits work for what that costs.
